tdi tuning chips

Featured Replies

hi guys and girls

looking for some advice picking up my octavia on saturday 1.9 tdi pd and have been looking into a tuning chip from TDI tuning to increase power from 105 to around 130bhp, wanted to know if these work or a waste of money compared to getting the ecu remapped.

ECU remap all the way, I've had both and the best bang for your buck is a remap, dont buy the cheap chips on ebay, they're ****e.

Had a chip ionstalled on the wifes Jetta with the same engine and it worked fine.

However I would have preferred a remap as the chip stands out and was very obvious.

I did inform the insurance company but I always wondered what might have happened if we had a claim, would they change their tune?

I told them it was for fuel economy, which was not a lie, as the economy did improve if the car was driven as it had been, only difference was, a lot more poke when pressing the gas pedal.

I had one fitted to a Seat Toledo , did 60k without any problems apart from an incease in black smoke ,But if there is not a lot of difference in price a remap is the better option
