Yeti Prices - Value for money?

Featured Replies

I'll answer my own question with a "yes". What sparked this was a Nissan X Trail ad popping up on my screen. I was interested because that's what I used to drive. Minimum price now is £25K. Who buys them? Is there anything that comes anywhere near the Yeti for value?

I think the Yeti is hard to beat new.

Second hand I don't think it's such good value. Prices are too high and close to the new discounted dealer prices to make a lot of sense.

By the way, the X Trail comes with a three year warranty like all Nissans (and most other cars), not one year.

Probably not, imho the Yeti provides a lot for not a lot, however I was informed just the other day Arnold Clark are selling Toyota RAV4 2.2 XTR Diesel 4WD's for £22,495, I'm also reliably informed that they will let them go for £21,500. They are pre-reg 61 plates with between 15 and 25 miles on them.

Whilst not being my cup of tea, it would make a decent buy for someone looking for a diesel 4x4.

I somehow suspect there won't be many on this forum who believe other makes come close to providing the same value as the Yeti. However, if I was buying now and not wanting to wait those Toyotas seem competitive - I believe they are pretty economical and reliable and I'd rather have a RAV4 than the Nissan - my wife calls them 'N-trails'.

I wonder if dealers will find they have too many 4x4s if the winter turns out to be as mild as the autumn has been.

I agree with BossFox re comparison of new to used prices just now. Presumably the high used Yeti prices won't continue as more and more are traded in.

Arnold Clark are also advertising £3342 off a 61 plate 1.4 SE Plus which if a real offer doesn't seem bad Arnold Clark - though I've not in the past been impressed with the customer care at a couple of their gargages.

Yeti on order - compaqny car lease scheme up against the Qashqai. I felt the Yeti gave much more for the money, but it also has a couple of attractive petrol engines with relatively low emissions (thus easy on the income tax!).

For low mileage town based drivers, a diesel isnt really necesarry and DPF problems might arise, so the Yeti's petrol engine choice was a major factor. Most rivals dont seem to want to shift petrol versions - for instance who wants a thristy 2.5 petrol Kuga?

Good value for money if you can get a decent discount. However, it must be getting very competitive out there because dealers of other makes I contacted in October (when I was deciding what to get) have contacted me in the last week offering VERY competitive discounted deals - and no problem holding the car till March 1st. Lead times on petrol Yeti's have all but disappeared - now told by Skoda(UK) it is < 9 weeks from order to delivery - so expect some good deals in January when car sales are likely to nose dive because of economy here and in Europe. New car market in 2012 is going to be brutal!

Very interesting. I thought the lead time seemed astonishingly short but put it down to the lease company being a tad optimistic. Looks like the changeover wont be delayed :D

Less than nine weeks!

We currently have a 1.2 DSG petrol Elegance and a 170CR diesel Elegance on order.

The petrol had a lead time of four months, the diesel of six months.

I've had the build weeks and it confirms this original estimate by the dealer. Both cars will arrive in February/March.

Check with Skoda customer services - the dates I gave were direct from them after checking with the factory!

Boss Fox - You are right on the warranty and I've edited my post to reflect it. Interesting points coming up about used values, they make the Yeti look an even better buy.
