clock adjustment and computer resets

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Do any one has any idea why after a few hours of setting the clock right, the car fails to start and the on board computer resets all except the total mileage (kms since I'm in Portugal). Its only after (second try) that I'm able to start the car. But there the reset already took place.

If I do not set the clock right I never experience problems starting the car or computer reseting it's values.

Also, when the problem occurs the fuel level indicator does not go up smoothly like it usually goes. It goes up more like it is "jumping" in small steps... Please advise!

Car is a 2000 Mk1 1.6 Skoda Octavia.

Thank you.

Dry joint on the dash PCB. By resetting the clock maybe you dislodged the PCB and now you are experiencing problems.

I would suggest the voltage regulator is the place to start - resolder the joints on there. The dash fault is fairly common, you can pull out a fuse (can't remember which off hand) and see if that helps. if it does then that points to the voltage regulator joints.

Have a search on here and see what you can find.

Welcome to Briskoda btw. Hopefully your knowledge will increase with time on here and you will be able to help others in the future too
