MK1 Octy diesel estate - £1600

Featured Replies

Have my mk1 Octy estate tdi 1.9 for sale:

147K miles

No tax - Sorn'd

MOT till August 2012

1 previous owner

Stamped up service book to 92K mostly independents and a few main dealer ones.

New gearbox, clutch and flywheel at 98K with invoice.

I have done 20K+ a year for 3 years and changed oil & filters every 10K and anything else it needed.

Recently had the oil, oil filter, diesel filter, air filter, front brake discs & pads and tyres just before I took it off the road.

Due a cambelt and water pump soon.

No real bodywork damage, although its got a few scratches here and there.

I had both bumpers repainted and new bumper plastics as they were looking a bit faded.

Has a boot liner and boot cover.

A/C works. Standard radio & cd changer.

Just me and my Dad have owned this, so never written off, no finance owing but welcome to carry out your own HPI checks.

Drives well and still see in excess of 550 miles to a tank of diesel.

Looking for £1600 or close offer

What do you chaps think, too much, too little ?!

I've just seen one sell for £1450 in Olney, Bucks. Same standard spec on a 53 plate in Midnight blue(?) with 131k miles on it. It had just been serviced with cambelt done. Original clutch, newish tyres, taxed, not sorned and of course it didn't have the elegance interior. It was on offer for £1550 so it went at £100 below asking price.

So probably i'll be looking closer to 1200?

I would say this depends exactly where in the country you are. Knowing the car that sold here, I thought that £1450 was a lowish price, but at the end of the day that's what it sold for.

If I were selling the car HERE, I would have put the asking price at about £1350 because it needs the cambelt changing and is SORN. Anyone buying the car would need to add £500 to the price for the cambelt change and tax.

If you have interest, you can always lower the price to get a sale, but if no-one is interested you stand no change.

Thanks for the feedback.

I thought I priced it at £1600 with offers to allow to be bashed say £250-£300 for cambelt and water pump as I was quoted £250 to change them. The tax is £63.25 for 6 months so that wouldnt be reflected in the price much.

Only had 1 useless offer of £600 and 1 call offering me to pay £59.99 as they had a string of buyers just waiting to give me the full asking price for my "2003 black Skoda!" yeah righto.

I may end up taking my 3 series off the road and use this as its much cheaper on the diesel and better in the snow, may sell after christmas with some tax and with the cambelt done.

Where are you located?
