Fabia alarm won't set

Featured Replies

Last night my Fabia vRS car alarm went off about about 4:45am :thumbdwn: Nothing untoward appeared to be happening, but now if you lock the car it won't flash the indicators. Have driven it today, there's no door or boot open indicator, made sure bonnet is fully shut.

Anyone any hints about this? Phone call to the dealer tomorrow to check it out of course, make sure the disklok is fitted tonight...

Do your intermitant wipers work?

yes, wipers OK - checked that too as seen the thread on here about the bonnet being open

Could be your convenience control unit ( controls c/locking ) . Just had to have mine replaced as my alarm was doing exactly the same . My intermittent wipers were working but it turned out the bonnet switch was broken as well ( me shutting the bonnet the wrong way ?? )

Ah ha, now found out thanks to the spots of rain today that the intermittent wipers work intermittently if you see what I mean. Opened the bonnet this evening and wiggled the cable that looks like it goes to the bonnet catch, lo and behold alarm sets, flashes lights, and then goes off a few minutes later. Loud innit

Too dark to fiddle about, but looks like it's the bonnet switch then....

Dealer can't look at it till Thursday week! :thumbdwn: How rubbish is that? I think I'll ring them again tomorrow...

Slightly unpleasant having to put up with that for that long though, could cause grief with neighbours.

I had not read the manual properly regarding the alarm and the alarm automatically re-set itself after 30 seconds. Hadn't realised this as the doors were unlocked. We found out it had re-armed when we opened the passenger door though

My Dad's Furby vRS's alarm has gone off 3 times over the last year or so whilst it's been sat in the garage all locked up. Dealer can't find anything and mine hasn't done anything like that in 6 months... *touch wood*

AA man came out as it was going off every ten minutes - he fiddled with the bonnet switch cabling - pulled it apart and reassembled it - and so far it's fixed it. Still go do the dealer even though they won't budge on available date - very poor.
