9.5k I've gone for a ......

Featured Replies

Saab 9-3 aero 2.0 turbo petrol 2009 0-60 7 ish seconds and returning not to bad mpg, I get 12 months garantee 2 years free servicing, and Saab roadside assistance, the spec list is huge, bi xenons, leather climate control, auto adjust head lights, and 30000 miles on the clock, dispite bad money problems that there going through I'll be probably in another car by the time Saab go completely under! So now anybody want my fabia?!

Saab UK filed for administration 2 days ago..

Octavia vRS FTW ;)

How many miles has your Fabia done? Email me if you'd like to sell it to trade.

I'd have future parts concerns with a SAAB. Which is guess is why they are cheap.

I seem to remember reading somewhere last night that a fairly new one needed a headlight and the guy is still waiting after five weeks...

Theres a Saab at my local garage been their about 3 months waiting for a part

I had a look into octavia, but you just don't get as much car, and higher mileage, thankfully the model I'm looking at is the newest shape model they do, and for the money the other cars BMW Volvo merc so arnt offering the same quality, the only other car I looked at was a 3 series touring, but again not many come with Leather seats, none with xenons and none with warranty.

But im test driving one on sat so I'll decide then, gotta sell my fabia first!

Newest shape, meaning less non-SAAB aftermarket parts back up?

I'd be worried.

Does make sense why it's cheap though.

If Saab UK are in administration, who is going to uphold the warranty?

I`d rather a BMW out of warranty then a Saab with a worthless one tbh. If you go for it, just go in disregarding the warranty and expect to have parts issues. Look at it like that then decide if its still worth it, might still be a bargain, but personally i`d run a mile.

Done a bit of research it's only a part of Saab that have gone into administration, parts and warranties still go on, speaking to a friend who has a masters in business, it's the press making it out to be doom and gloom, it was over one large debt, which has been taken on by two chinese company's problem already solved!

I would have thought that a company will spring up offering parts for Saabs because there are still a large number on the road that will continue to provide transport to owners.

Can I just say that we should be mourning the passing of a once great car manufacturer.

My favorite Saab:

There was always something appealingly odd about Saabs.

I actually quite liked the new post GM cars. But I wouldn't be going there with my own money. Still plenty of people bought and have run Rovers without much issue when they imploded.

I had a 1992 K reg Saab 9000 CSE 2.3 16v back in the day.

(When Saabs were still Swedish and not just posh Vauxhalls :giggle: )

Epic comfort, dreadful fuel economy, built like a tank, good spec.

Mine was off the road for nearly 6 months when I couldn't get my

hands on a replacement fuel pump. New parts were soooo expensive.

There used to be a Saab breaker in Waltham Abbey called Neo Brothers

which was where I managed to buy spares for a semi reasonable price.

Mine was a paler silver, with grey leather and multispoke wheels.

It was a lovely car when it was working, at the time I lived with my

parents so the expense wasn't too bad I suppose.

Vauxhall chasis and running gear = fail

It's strange talk to people who haven't owned Saab you either get, don't know much about them or they hate them for various reasons, but speak to someone who has owned them and they love them, spoke to a guy who said his older 9-3 went badly wrong scrapped it and brought... Another 9-3 he just said he loved it so much that he didn't Care that it went wrong,

Thats cool if you love a car so much that when it packs up you still love it. But I need my car for work and I rather spend money making it better than just spanking money into it to keep it on the road, so above everything else I like my cars reliable.

I know one person who had old saabs who loved them, and they were fairly reliable, but all I hear from owners of re-bodied vectra saabs is bad. If they were that amazing they would still be here now, they are pretty bland inside, not much left of the quirky saab`s of old. I had a quick scout, 2005-2006 bmw 3 series would be my choice for the money all day long, but as I said, depends on what you want from a car.

Kinda like Skodas really I guess.

Noticed a lot of people on this site happily hate on other cars - MINIs spring to mind - but get up in arms if anyone insults theirs, especially if it's a Yeti!

I looked at the 9-3s a while ago, and S60s. Have to say I did prefer the Volvo, but the SAAB was nice enough car, just not a fan of the dash layout.

Sure spares will be fine for the major bits - think how many after market OEM parts are on sale at ECPs etc. Just bodywork where things could get sticky I guess, but that's just another reason not to crash!

i looked at s60 as well but the boot wasnt right, the back seats were too cramped, and the turning circle was rubbish, but still a really nice car.

, and the turning circle was rubbish, but still a really nice car.

Not having a poke, but thats a poor excuse for turning down a car

Do drive in circles all day or summat ??

James i'm slightly dissapointed in your choice. I wonder what your mum thinks(ex rally driver)

i doubt she would be seen dead in a saab. if it was a convertible fair enough if you have just been dumped or something!

or one of the HOT AERO models with 250bhp are fairly useable.

but still, tut tut.

A V8 M5 could have been had for 3k less, would probs cost less to maintain and the 3k extyra cash could help pay for the extra fuel consumption.

YUMM 400 creamy v8 bhp's vs 170/180bhp of 4pot diesel tractor torque :p

What did you say about the Yeti !?!?! :wonder:

Trust me if you've driven the sports s60 d5 you'll understand, I know the Saab won't be a popular choice, I did look at a 5 series but there too expensive to run and insure, every cars spec can't compete with the Saab, past 2007 the models get really good readers reviews, and with so much garrantee and servicing If it goes tits up I'm covered, and I get 30 days to exchange if I don't like it!

Ohh noo I've already had enough of my threads locked! Dont bring that yeti stuff this way!
