I think you might be dreaming if you think you can pick up an m5 for 3k? And even if I could I might as well buy the Saab as I would never get insurance on an m5.

I think you could have got an x/s type Jag for similar money with same spec and less grief on here.

sorry mate.

anyway i really do hope u enjoy your car.

all the best mate.

love

Ahh I can't stick those older bmws, plus my missues has to drive it as well, not really a fan of the jag (apart from the new xf) I don't doubt there good cars, they also suffer from bad rear leg room, my friend has an x type estate. Lovely leather in that one!

Is rear leg room important? The first review I read (parkers) of the saab is poor rear legroom :(

It's the best in it's class, it's poor when front seats are pushed all the way back!

Just on a off question what would people pay for my modded furby?!

It seems by reading around that the whole of Saab UK has gone into administration. The dealers they own and everything. As Saab UK are the supplier of parts, warranties and vehicles to the UK it appears that there will be no channel for parts to arrive even if Saab in Sweden is bailed out.

Current situation is in sweden there are no cars being made or any parts.

In the UK, Saab UK have gone into administration which could result in warrantys not being honoured as they are part of the Saab UK stuff, not dealer. Also, if Saab UK goes beyond administration then parts etc will be nigh on impossible to get hold of as the only stock in the country will be at dealers.

On the plus front a lot of parts are Vectra parts...

That's why im not overly worried, they will be parts, if I get a decent car for a couple of years before it goes tits up then great I'll get somthing else.

It's the best in it's class, it's poor when front seats are pushed all the way back!

Few snippets . .

Auto Express:

Furthermore, while rear legroom is not particularly generous

5th Gear:

Reasonably roomy in the front, but rear seat space is less than generous

Parkers:

It's not as impressive in the back though - headroom is good but legroom is in short supply

Mate.. i think you've bought a lemon!

I would get out of it if you still can.

Odd question to most has anyone actually driven a Saab, or have first hand experience, I respect everyones views but unless you genuinely have experience surly what your suggesting is hear say, I mean what do most people say when you own a skoda, the Saab on average gets a 7 out of 10 on most reviewers that's good enough for me.

I can confirm I have NOT driven the model your looking at, just a bit of a loon and like reading all things car related. If someone suggests a car I like to go have a little read up on them. However, i`m sure the various reviews I quoted would have driven one, or it`d be a bit pointless them reviewing them.

Edit, I also think £9,500 is a fair old wedge, so worth reading lots and lots about the purchase first. I`d be looking at it lasting longer than a couple of years till the part dry up for that money. Also prefer it to hold more than 2% value when I come to sell if the worst does happen with Saab.

I dont think its the car, its the circumstances!

I like the exterior of most SAAB's, but Jesus... it's like buying a Rover in 2005!

I have driven a 93 saloon and didn't get on well with the boot. I had a pushchair and I struggled to get it in as the opening wasn't particularly wide. It was a courtesy car while my vectra was being fixed a the dealer was both vauxhall and Saab. The rear legroom was better than the Volvo for sure.

I'm sure you will be very happy with it..but as others have said, make sure it is 100% what you want was it is 9.5k you won't get back.

Just to add..my dad had a 95 3.0 tid that was great but unreliable and Saab never did get to the bottom of why the engine kept going into limp mode!

At the min i wont be buying anything as i need to sell my fabia first!

Depreciation on the Saab might be an issue if the general perception is that company is unsound.

If you plan on keeping it quite a while that won't be a big issue.

If you could all buy a Saab then that would help secure the future for Saab?! The company has been brought now so it's all secure, it's ment to be bad for the new Saab 4x4 and shareholders, as general motors won't let Saab use their technoloy on the new 4x4 because if who the company has been sold to.
