Fabia vRS Hamster Cage Mod

Hellfire:

In this weather, I doubt I'm going to see any difference at all.

I did it so that in the summer, on a hot day, I can still drive it hard.

Last summer I did notice a definite drop in performance when I'd been sitting in traffic etc.

This mod, coupled to the IC Spray that I'm fitting this weekend, should see to it that I don't get such bad IC Heat Soak in the summer.

OR... Do you want me to write:

"Yeah mate, definitely gave me 10bhp!!!"

So you can prove me wrong??? :P

yeah i agree Josh, its too early and not the right weather to tell if it makes a difference, thats why i had suggested others who have already done it should say.

like you said if the TT has a vent there, im guessing its there for a reason!

good job and im looking forward t the water spray thread too

does anyone know how much the TT vent(liner) cost?

^^^

sounds good, it seems you can actually just buy the TT vents, wonder where from?

does anyone know how much the TT vent(liner) cost?

PMSL, you beat me to it

The TT vent is part of the arch liner but you can get the arch liner from a scrappy and cut it out.

Sounds good! where does the intercooler air escape from normally? or does it just swirl around the engine bay??

Also, from the pictures on the 2 web sites listed by Josh it looks like the TT Vent can be bought seperately?

I don't think you can buy the vent separately as they are molded into the arch liner.....well this how it was when I originally did mine....2+ years ago...maybe Audi have changed the design now???

I believe the air jsut swirls around the ic.

maybe vagparts might sell the TT liner as a whole, depends how much it costs tho

I must admit I spotted one on a TT that was parked next to us in Winchester (dropping someone off at the railway station). It looked pretty slick.

Not having driven the vRS during hot summer time, it's hard to say how bad the heat soak gets, but I could imagine it becoming an issue.

The TT arch liner is

is that from audi? or vagparts or similar?

Kenny,

your going to have to cut the vent out of the arch....so it's probably cheaper and wiser to get one from a scrappy or do something like Josh has shown.

Unless a TT arch liner can fit a Octy or Fabia.

yeah ill have a look for some srappy sites, dont even know where my nearest one is, might try some online places

no luck so far, i might try vagparts if i have time

is that from audi? or vagparts or similar?

Thats direct from Audi

good price really, do you know the part number?

someone said the S3 has one a little bigger than the TT, anyone know?

TBH, the standard intercooler is that small I cant imagine the need for the S3 one :(

probably not mate

Anything goes I suppose, i'll call audi tomorrow to see if they can help establish which is larger and what the part numbers are, i'll also see if there is a price difference.

that would be great. maybe vagparts sell them too, unfortunately im out the office tomorrow or i could have checked

Doesn't S3 have the same twin ic set-up like the TT....i.e two small ics?

Any potential bad side effects of doing this kind of thing?

Any potential bad side effects of doing this kind of thing?

I have wondered what the effects are to the aerodynamics? I mean there's now effectively a hole in one arch liner but not other...air flows through one easily and not the other.

Would this create some kind of high speed instability?

I guess probably but not at every day driving speed used.

Only other thing I can come up with is warranty issue. ;)
