Timing belt intervals.

Featured Replies

Hello, I recently had my car serviced and the garage said my timing belt was due. The car is on a 04 plate and has just gone past 70,000 miles. The timing belt has been done at 51,000 before on the 11/11/09. Am i right in thinking that the belt will need replacing at 80,000? or is it due now?

111,000 or 11/11/13

111,000 or 11/11/13

The intervals are every 60,000 miles or 4 years, whichever comes first, so as above.

When you next get it done, I'd suggest the water pump is changed at the same time.

Other sources suggest 4 years/75,000 miles which seems to have Skoda manufacturer backing to it (i.e. 120k km) rather than the lower limit apparently "imposed" by Skoda UK.

The previous belt change was around a year or so late and I agree with the dates quoted above since your mileage is too low to trigger it.

Thanks alot for the replying. I did not think it was due this soon. Looks like it will be done on 11/11/13 unless i start doing more miles. You have saved me alot of money! well for abit atleast :) Cheers
