Vrs remap advice pls

Featured Replies

Hey all,

I've got a fully standard silver car 07 plate bought at 25k now on 53k, really happy with the car so I am thinking about a remap rather than a change of car, is it as simple as it seems just pay your money & get more fun or are there problems ahead in higher wear rates on clutch/gearbox & parts not designed to cope with that extra oomph??

Sure this has been asked many times before but my forum skills are poor so would appreciate any advice!!

If its a decent map then nothing to worry about apart from extra stress on the clutch/flywheel.

My advice would be to buy my car as it has every base mod done to it, can't blame me for trying!

I've just bought a vrs with a map already loaded and wow the difference from driving both was massive!! Get it done :)

Deffinately worth doing and should be OK without changing parts if you keep it sensible - Have a chat with Will at P-Torque nr Wolverhampton - not far from you and he knows his stuff and will map the car to protect the clutch / turbo etc.

good luck

Thanks4 d help guys first forum post always a bit scary!

So it's about getting a decent remap not just going anywhere & not always driving like I stole it would that b a fair assessment??

have a drive in mine if u want ent far away from me lol Been in worcester today for college!

have driven a vrs with a 170 bhp remap and couldn't feel much difference when compared to my wife's standard 2006 vrs,

think the later cars had 150 bhp as standard but i might be wrong :giggle:

your money might be better spent on a rarb and 312mm front brakes, from what i have read on here it will be alot more noticeable.

thought about it for the mrs but she gets 57 mpg so i don't want to encourage her to drive quick

Go to Unit 18 and get their advice, they can map the car however you want

My mate Ross has a 200bhp hybrid on standard clutch, he told them to keep it gentle and the clutch has been fine even with it being given death everywhere and nearly being as far as me

Blimey that is a generous offer not sure my history of sticking cars in 2 things would make that a wise choice!

I am tempted by the 312mm brake set up 2 b honest it's only the brakes & d the ship like roll at times that stops mine from being perfect especially when surprising other cars!!

Have any of u guys done the brake conversion? Does it make a big difference??

Yup. Great power and pedal feel.

Not crashed this one yet trailer sounds like good work!!

Can I be cheeky & ask how u sourced & fitted your 312's & cost??

Think this might have 2 b my first step then can I ask what u paid & how u sourced them?

Does a remap nail your insurance premiums? Or could you get away with not telling your provider if it was your only mod?

A mate of mine said with d vrs the ecu doesn't record when the map was done so he reckons u could get away with saying it must have been done before I bought it if u were unlucky enough to have it spotted after putting in a claim!

No, that won't work. Even if you didn't know and they find the car is modified then the insurance is invalidated.
