"hot" estates

Featured Replies

Now it it me or has anyone else noticed that manufacturers nowadays seem to be bringing out more "hot" estates?

It used to just be the big three luxury brands (Audi, BMW and merc) but now it seems to be a lot more brands have them. And now even Ford / Vauxhall seem to be getting in on the act with a Focus ST and a romoured Astra VX estate.

Its the way forward.

When do you think Skoda will make one?

All car brands seem to want to plug every gap in the market lately.

Sometimes you just have to move a wardrobe quickly!

They've sort of got 3. The Fabia VRS, the Octy VRS and the Superb V6

They have been around for years but sort of went out of fasion for the last few years.

I have my Octavia as my company car.

My weekend runaround is a nice subtle Wolf in sheeps clothing a Volvo V70 T5 estate with 240bhp.

I hadnt really noticed that tbh.

The original bad boy estate car would have probably been the mg montego which would have been a fast car in it's day.. I agree with daiking, t's about time skoda made a fast estate car tbh, not just an average meh car like the octavia. They need a Tarmac tearing monster like the Audi rs6.

You can look a lot further back than the Montegos.

Try early Ford Cortina Savage. Ok not production but what a car.

Ford Granada estates.

Rover P6 3.5 estate.

Reliant Scimitar 3.0.

they may not have been HOT as we class it now but they were damn quick in their day.

MG Montego - jeez that's going back a bit. My Dad had 2 of them (greedy eh!), one red and one blue, both got stolen.

I own several scimitars. They were quick in the 60s and 70s. 0-60 in 9.0secs :rofl::rofl:

The most ridiculous of all the fast estates...

Meh, get a van. They are ideal for moving stuff. :p

I bought and trade insured a van this year for under £1000 all in.

Not long after purchase I went to Ikea and bought a large double bed,

mattress and a large armchair plus several bags of stuff.

Got it all home in 1 run. Tell me an estate car that can do that.

So, if I need space I use the van,

If I need seats I use the Fabia.

If I don't need either,I use the 2 seater ;)

Well I'm wondering whats going to come next in the supermini class. Polo estate is due next year and I would guess that will probably have a GTi version.

Best one I have seem is the MTM RS6 Clubsport estate. That thing is as mad as a hatter.

To be honest I'm actually surprised there aren't more about. Much more practical than a "normal" saloon and a bit more understated.
