being in phase of buying new tyres for vRS (default dim 205/45 R16), it seems that the dimension is rather unfortunate - i can have much better price (up to 30 euro/piece diff) for 215/40 R16 or 205/40 R17, etc.

the question is: can i mount 215/40 R16 on my original rims ( J6.5X16 )? aren't the rims too thin? (for now, i do not intend to change the rims ...)

215/40's will be fine AFAIK, the only problem would be a slight in accuracy of the speedo of approx 2.1% too fast. This would mean when the speedo is showing 60mph you'd be doing 58.7mph.
