Inde or Franchise Choice

Hello to all,

I am about to buy an Octavia 1.9 PDi Ambiente/Elegante in either hatch or estate form, about 2008 with max of 40000 miles.

There are two locally.

One is a May 2008 Octavia Ambiente Estate with about 27000 miles on the clock at an Independant dealer price for £9k.

The other is a January 2008 Octavia Elegante Hatchback with about 28000 on the clock at a Skoda Franchise dealer for £9.4k

The Independant dealer will give a 3 months parts & labour warranty and extend it to a year for £99.

The Skoda Franchise dealer will give a 1 year Skoda backed warranty.

As a first time Skoda buyer what would the best advice be.

I believe the elegance is higher spec and you can probably get that down to 9k anyway. I also believe you get a years skoda assistance so the dealer deal could indeed be the better option...if you want a hatch and not an estate!

Assuming the prices you quoted are hard and fixed then for me there's is no choise - the Skoda dealer every time.

First of all the main dealer has a lot more to protect than the Indy in the cars he sells. The Skoda will have been given

a more professional and detailed check over before sale, as backed up by the standard 12 months warranty.

In the worst case scenario should things go belly up you always have recourse to SUK to sort things out.

It's all to easy to left high and dry should you have to put in a big claim with the Indy, remember we are all living in

difficult times.

Again Ambient verses Elegant - no contest

So what's holding you. Go in and make a firm offer of £9.0K - TIOLI

Best of luck.
