Featured Replies

hi all have just joined the site in desperate help we have a 07 octavia and went out to start car and there is nothing there so tested battery and all is well the headlights work fine etc but when key is put in ignition there is nothing no lights come on dash at all im thinking imobiliser or something or relay , has anybody else had same probs or heard of same prob any help would be greatly appreciated

check all the fuses, if its just clicking then would point to immobiliser, would maybe need VCDS to determine...

I think a fuse or a relay would be the most likely. The immobiliser doesn't stop the starter motor from operating, it just prevents the engine firing.

Actually, it allows the engine to start and run for three seconds.

If I had to guess, I'd say it is the terminal 15 relay.

No, and you may not be able to read the diagnostics if you don't have power. Checking the fuses and relays is a prerequisite for further tests. A meter is all you need.

On your car, the ignition switch doesn't switch power directly. It provides inputs to a controller which switches the power via relays. The terminal 15 relay (under the dash) is a likely candidate as terminal 15 corresponds to 'ignition on' position.
