Currently drive a 2003 mini cooper s (supercharged not the later turbo model) running around 210bhp. great car, love it 100% but.. 21mpg isnt making me smile anymore :( getting new job which means a 50mile round trip each day and thats like 15 quid a day in the mini! lol

looking at getting an 06 VRS. hopefully picking it up this weekend! fingers crossed its ready in time!

hopefully learn a few things from this forum and may be of help to some people. (im a main dealer technician and also just got job as race team/tuning company technician so know a few things..)

hopefully first of many posts! (im a forum whore) lol

Welcome to the site

You can get similar power from the vRS once stage 2 tuned but with

loooooooads more torque. Have fun :smirk:

You can do 220bhp easy with hybrid turbo, intercooler, and a couple of other bits. :) Recommend changing clutch though.

Hi and welcome aboard.

Just a remap and you're set for 165-180bhp depending on who maps it. Leave a standard filter in as aftermarkets let too much **** through and eat the turbo. There's nothing else really worth doing unless you want to up things to 200bhp+... Then youre talking FMIC, clutch, turbo and a new map. :) oh and welcome!

cheers lads! i would want to take it past 200bhp without a doubt! lol

so, roll on saturday! lets get it started!

Welcome to the forum. :hi:

As others have said, you'll be looking at a steady 160-180 bracket. The air filter choice is up to you. At that level of tune (175bhp) I ran a Green Cotton filter for 100k+ miles without lunching the turbo. I now run a shade over 200 and use a K&N filter.

There is evidence to suggest that aftermarket filters "let through" too much and can damage your turbo but as with anything on a modified car, it's a risk.

You may also want to consider a PD160 intake pipe. Endless discussion as whether it's any benefit or not. The choice is yours. I would look at getting the SMIC vented (do a search for pikey mod #1) ;)

Edit: here's the link

sweet! i have a carbon fibre BMC CDA kinda thing i would fit. bought it for my last diesel car and it sounded great!

so the "pikey mod" is basically get as much air in through the front.. then let it escape from the arch behind the IC?

you have gone and got me in trouble now..

the day i get it the GF is going to see me drilling at cutting the bumper lol

Essentially yes. You can go all posh and buy the wheel arch line from an Audi TT for about £20. Cut out the vent and do a proper job if you wish.......

£20? i got a drill and 10mm drill bit :p lol

whats needed to get to 400nm? that sound a nice figure to have lol

Your basic stage 1 map should take you around that figure dude (y)

<3 Diesels <3 lol

so.. with just a map.. how do you think one of these will compare to a 200bhp petrol car?

driving my mini tonight.. the way the power is all through the rev band.. i just cant see it being possible for a DERV to be able to be quicker?

please please prove me wrong! lol

Just making holes isn't ideal. You need a vent (can be had from B&Q I think) that is pointing down to the ground so crud coming up and over the tyre cannot get in and cake up the intercooler behind the arch lining. :)

ooo yeah, i suppose stones could damage the IC too! will it really make much difference? to the point of its worth me getting cold outside doing one weekend? :p

Well, I have a spare pair of arch liners I MUST fit this weekend so I have ordered this to go in! I am going to spray it black first so it doesn't stand out too much once fitted. Should be easy to dremel out the square and then use self tappers in the corner to hold it, combined with a bit of glue as well to seal it.

is the arch flat or curved on the bit this goes in? if its flat it should be easy im hoping :D

so your fabia.. what figures isit pushing at the minute? always see vids on you tube and it looks evil man!

Its not running so well so not running at full power. Has comfortably dyno'd 275bhp though. A little winter work is required on the exhaust manifold and a hybrid version of the current (stock) turbo fitted.

The arch is slightly curved, but I have found you can usually bend the vents a little to fit them. ;) A little heat helps things along a bit :D

Welcome along!
