Stop-Start issue?

Featured Replies

So today going into work and back home, after about 30 miles the glow plug light started to flash.

Then when I stopped the display came up "Stop Start Error" and of course it didn't cut out.

The glow plug light kept flashing until the car was switched off, then was fine when restarted.

Anyone else had this?

Like the car a lot, but this is the second fault recently.

The last one being the clutch cylinder popping and I had to drive 20 miles with no clutch pedal.

At least my local dealer had it fixed in two hours that time.

Starting to feel glad the Yeti arrives in March...

Had the glow plug warning light come on a few times now but not with stop start error.

It's linked to quite a few things not just the injection system, its time to go to the dealers.

Not sure you want to hear this from me given my car's history, replacement being built next week.

Just an update...

I've now got a VCDS for the laptop and have had a little chat with the car.

It's an intermittent EGR Valve fault. Has happened 4 times.

Sent the info to the dealer from the scan.

Well I got the car into Preston Motors about 10 minutes from me and I have to say I am surprised at the result.

It needed plugging in for an update and a potential EGR fault was part of the update.

But now for the surprise, the fuel economy is so, so much better.

After I fitted the winter tyres it dropped to about 65mpg. Figured it was the extra drag from the tyres.

But now the update has been done it's back up to around 74mpg! :)

It almost seems better than before, which considering the tyre change and winter diesel (does winter diesel really make any difference?) is great.

Glad so it it has been sorted for the better.

These update, are you called in I.e informed to take car in or what emoticon-0112-wondering.gif

I've often wondered if there was an EGR fault with mine with it staying closed for too long after a regen.

Oh well it's being transformed this weekend to a 1.6 Elegance.

I'm curious about that update -do you know if this would be relevant to my car? No problems -but extra mpg always appreciated.

I scanned my car with the VCDS and found an EGR fault. But when it was booked in the Skoda garage had a memo for an update to the Greenline II.

I would assume it will be done to every car when it goes in for a service if you don't experience any problems. Mine would occasionally hesitate and the glow plug light would start flashing, which was why I scanned it. Happened four times in about 2000 miles.
