Hi, could someone tell me what these codes stand for ?

Also had the ASR light coming on permanently. What would this indicate ?

Relay for supply Voltage Terminal 30 (J317) Implausible Signal p1601

Load Signal from Alternator Term.. DF Implausible Signal P1503 Intermittent.

Load Signal Error Message from ECU p1857 Intermittent.

Also is there a diagnostic kit any one could reccomend I could buy to find and clear codes like this ?

Alternator load signal - check on search for that one, probably wire(s) cut/broken near connector point below gearbox/engine joining point. After you have sorted that see what problems remain. For a cheap and cheery scan tool, maybe check out the Gendan VAG tool at around £40 - for more serious work buy VCDS-LITE or full blown VCDS.

Regarding the VCDS is it purelly just a cable and does it require a Laptop to read the codes ?
