Hi All

I have finally given in to my longing for a mean green machine. After a string of Vw's, a Ford Focus and the most boring car in all christendom the Toyota Avensis I am here to absorb and observe before making an informed choice.

So my quest for the perfect Vrs tdi continues.....

Great forum btw.

Cheers

Paul :)

Hi and welcome aboard.

Cheers!

Welcome to the site. Toyota's are well made but yes have become boring. I had a T180 Avensis, nice car, great at motorway and long runs but what a waste of a good engine. Shame they stopped doing sporty stuff!

I have to agree, It was my father-in-law's T180 that got me interested in the Avensis in the first place. A deal came along and I took it. It has been, soild and reliable transport, but, its now time for something else. I have it for sale on Autotrader at a not unreasonable price :D

Welcome :)

But get a TSI instead!

Hi Babs

I have not ruled anything out yet. I have driven 2 Montys this week, one oil burner and a 105 tsi. I don't really do the miles to justify diesel but it's what i'm used to as all company motors and last 3 cars have been derv burners.

On a cold mornings short test drive the little 1.6 cr tdi felt and sounded rough. I have also read a lot of posts on this and seat forums regarding poor mpg and harsh running. By contrast the 1.2 tsi 105 was smooth and quick enough to encourage spirited driving!

It's a real shame the Monty does not come with a 1.4 tsi 122 engine and rear disk brakes, not everyone wants 180bhp and dsg. I think they would sell shed loads of them if they came in that guise.
