P/X PRICE

Featured Replies

Just wondered if this could be right, P/X my Fabia vrs in November 2011 for 11k 60 plate with 2.5k on the clock had black roof and black wheels,

Today I looked in what car price guide Jan 2012 part exchange price was a little over 8k, retail a little over 10k and new a little over 16k that means it has lost half its price in just over a year and that's not good, and it not just the Fabia it seems loads of car have lost the same.

Try this, get a webuyanycar valuation and add about a thousand pounds?

Glass's:

Estimated value of your car

Part-exchange Price:

Excellent condition: £12300

Average condition: £11650

Below average condition: £10600

Bearing in mind this doesn't account for options and you can buy a brand new one for under £13k, this isn't bad

£8k is ridiculous. You couldn't buy one for that anywhere.

They're going through the trade for about £10k at the moment.

First year always hits cars hard, second and third year should slow down and it should be worth £8k by year 3 at a guess? Normally say 50% for Skoda's don't they?

I know with my MK1 vRS I was offered P/X £5.5k and it was 5 years old with 40k miles.

I should hope my car will be worth £8k come year 3.

It's sometimes said that you loose the VAT the moment you drive it off the forecourt, then the depreciation rate is x% per year after that, so an exponential decay as said.

Hey in the 18months I've had the Passat it's lost more than you could buy a vat free VRS for.

Cars are like that, once lost £15k in 14months on an Alfa Romea 156 Selespeed Veloce.

Skoda's hold their value well and are cheap to buy so overall depreciation costs are pretty low.

Buying cars new is a mugs game. I have two cars on the drive that I've bought new so I'm a massive mug.

Our third car is a three year old Fabia that had 9000miles on and I paid £6500 for it, it doesn't look any older or feel any older to drive than my two newer cars. Makes you think, I paid £5k VAT on the Passat. :'(

guides are just guides and some are so wrong a lot of traders wont use them

I always use autotrader's web site to get an idea.

The cheapest vRS is £10,989 with 20k miles on a 10 reg, nothing else below £12k

There is a 60 reg in white going throug BCA Nottingham auction tomorrow with 9529 miles reg 3/12/10 that is valued as

£11750 (Cap clean) or £12242 (Glass's trade) - what it sells for will be much better info that the guides.

I do have concerns about how desirable these cars will be when the warranty is up due to the risk of huge bills (engine & gearbox), something the Mk1 vRS didn't get affected by, only time will tell or does anyone have a guaranteed future value figure for 3 years old?

Look at what the dealer is selling them for and take off £1500 to £2000 and there's your trade in price.

When I got my vrs it was 2 months old and cost 13.5k, new would have been about 14.5k max as no vat, got round about 11k P/X after 10 months lost 3.5k in just under a year. Got my self a 1 year old Mazda mx 5 2l sports tech with 800 mile on the clock for 14k now trades at 12k cost a little under 21k so lost 9k in one year they say the mx 5 holds its value better than a lot of cars I'm not sure, skoda much better value over the year.

We use Glasses Guide in ours, as do most of our traders. £10k seems more like it to me too.

One year old vRS estate at my dealers for £15,500... so holding money well.
