My Paint's Peeling!

Featured Replies

Hi All,

Just washed the Superb, and found it strange that Silver paint was on my sponge!

From the bottom of the bumper (rear) paint is a peeling! - Apologies for the poor photo - it's dark and it's the best my iPhone could offer!

So, will pop into the dealers tomorrow - as i feel this should be covered by the 3 year paint warranty (it's only 19 months old) If it was "Worn" off, i'm sure it wouldn't be bubbling around the edges!

Thoughts please?

My Octavia is over 5 years old, only on bumper on the leading edge where it meets the felt/liner has any paint gone, ( only a small patch and not on outside surface ). Just worn. Yours looks like surface has not been prepared properly. I would certainly speak to the dealer

My VRS had two small areas of paint peeling on the left and right corners of the front number plate recess.

Hardly noticeable, but my dealer insisted on getting it repaired properly, no touch up.

So to the bodyshop for some spray work, excellent job all under warranty. Car was about 15 months old at the time.

+1 just had my front bumper sprayed for the same reason.

Thanks Guys,

It's going into dealer on the 3rd of jan (That's the soonest they can do a "Paint inspection!) and will check it out.

Will let you know what the think.

I had a silver Octy MkI which had exactly the same problem on the front bumper. Dealer resprayed it under warranty, then it happened again after the warranty expired.

Just as an update - the Superb went into local VW dealer on Tuesday - today, they have confirmed work will be carried out under warranty and it will be done in 10 days time - they do however want the car for a week! - and have offered me a Fabia in the mean time... which needless to say, the Fabia does not thrill me as i'm self employed and the car is a tool... ooo well, at least it'll be fixed soon :)

Good result I would say. I do find Skoda customer service second to none. There is a BMW garage about 100 yards from the Skoda one, and I would always choose Skoda even if I had money to burn, purely due to the care they show for their customers (rather than arrogance seen elsewhere).

Just as an update...

Car was away for 3 days, bumper completely re-sprayed, not an exact colour match, but still very close!

Supplied with a VW Polo as a Courtesy car, it wasn't bad for a few days!

(I used Pullman VW durham, who I believe passed the job onto Mill VW in Sunderland)

All in all, happy with the Skoda response.

Ah! My front lower bumper seems to be doing the same.

Dealer time methinks.

Phil.
