Health check for my vRS

Featured Replies

Could somebody tell me if there is anything that I can do to check my Turbo and engine is operating to its full capacity. Is it ouptputting enough bhp? Does the Turbo kick in in time, does it go fast enough. The only reason I ask is I bought the car 6-8 weeks ago Octy vRs and first real car with ummmpphh, but still dont know whether its performing to full capacity. It sometimes feels like it is full of power and acceleration, other days feels very sluggish. Your help would be appreciated.

Would be more than willing to take it for a spin for you, and give you my professional opinion... :D

But seriously...to know it's outputting the correct amount of power, not really much choice than to get it dyno'd...

Thanks for the advice Rob but what does that mean and where do I go for that, also what cost?

Also any idea on the impact on turbos of the misting ssprays advertised on E bay, claiming it cools the intake into something or other making it more responsive, cost around

They get your car on a rolling road...most tuning specialists should either be able to do this, or recommend somewhere that does. I've never needed to use these services, so couldn't recommend anywhere in particular. I believe it's about

Q. Sometimes it's full of power, other days it feels very sluggish.

A. Is there any correlation between this and weather? E.g. cool damp days = good; dry, warm days = not so good. This is normal. Lots of highly technical reasons for this - I can't remember any

For quantitative answers, I recommend that you visit a rolling road near you. Check out the "events" forum - they are usually listed there.

Intercooler tries to keep the temps down - if it's a hot day it can't get rid of as much heat (heat soak). This therefore means the air temp remains higher, thus causing less power in comparison to cold(er) air.

FMIC will be superior any day compared with a bit of spray, that's for sure, and also, it will work all the time, unlike the spray which will run out ;)

And what would an Inter cooler cost to fit? I take it thats what a FMIC is? Sorry your talking to a guy who gives people 6 packs for a living, not fix engines. And no I dont work in an offy!!!

There's an RR day on 3rd of April at JBS. See this thread for more details.
