Gprs access point

Featured Replies

Hi guys,

I have a 2010 Octy vrs with the GSM III+ Bluetooth system. I use it with my Samsung Galaxy S2 and it works using rsap flawlessly, my only question is what is the point of the option of setting up an access point in the maxi dot menu? I tried entering the access point given by my network & tbh don't know if it worked or not!

I get premium and 3g on the display but that is always there. I just can't see what use gprs connection would be.

Any help or ideas would be appreciated.

A Wireless Access Point is like having a small router in your car as it allows multiple devices to connect to The Internet as opposed to each device having to do it individually (which may be difficult inside a car due to the Faraday cage effect).

Hi Camberley Chris, thanks for your reply.

How does the car share the access point? Via bluetooth?

Cheers.

There is no wireless access point in the bluetooth module.

I think that this GPRS setup is reserved for future navigation/infotainment devices. RNS 810 navigation system in VW Phateon already can use a GPRS connection to internet to display Google maps.
