air bag and engine management light on

Featured Replies

Hi, the other day my airbag light came on for no apparent reason, now after washing my car today at work and driving home the engine management light is on (well I think it is the EM light, the one that looks like an engine?). As far as I can tell the car drives fine. I do think overall the car is under powered a little for 1.8t. I came from a Mondeo TDCi 130 and the 1.8t seems quite linear and has some amount of lag. I don't know if i'm just used to having the low down torque of a diesel and just need to learn to rev a car to get power again?

Should I worry or could this be water ingress to the electrics or cold related as it has been around minus 2 the last few days?

What is a good cheep obdII diagnostic tool? I had one for the mondeo called an F-Super and it only cost £15 but worked really well.

Find someone local with VCDS to check it for you

isn't there an airbag connector under the front seats that can get dislodged when cleaning /etc?

But yes, easiest bet is to get the car scanned with vgacom/VCDS.

cheers guys, I'm going to try and get my own reader/diagnostic tool as my last one paid for itself in the first job. I hate lights that come on with no obvious associated mechanical symptoms. what happened to the days you could fix cars with a hammer and a spanner?
