Skoda Wash

Got a phone call from my local dealer in Belfast today to say that after a week and a half they had fixed the brake warning light  (from what they said one of the pins of the connector at the rear passenger light was every so slightly loose and give 0.4 ohm resistance too high). Anyway chuffed to pieces as i'd had a 1.2 estate classic for the time, was told they'd cleaned it :) and she was ready to go, rushed round soon as i could grab the keys and away i home, got home to give her a we clean again only to see to my shock a nice scratch on the rear pillar at chest height  . Phoned and was told couldn't of been them as their machine cost thousands, told him to stop right there surely it wasn't a drive through and yes it was not impressed at all but at least they are going to have a look at it on Friday.

Had to get that off my chest been raging since i seen it.

under no circumstances let them use a mechanical buffer as it leaves swirl marks

mmmm buffer and swirl markes not to sure on that only time i have ever suffered with that is when ive done it to dry but easly fixed

im a proffesional autoglym car valeter trained and qualified and i never had a problem, personnelly would rather have a polish than a re paint

:)

Andy,

Sounds all too familiar. I left the Octy in for a service about 2 months ago. When i came back i noticed the car had been cleaned. I was happy enough until i got home to notice the plate with the electrics socket on from the towbar was bent inward by about 45 degrees. Luckily there doesn't seem to be any other marks or scratches, but if the machine wash can do this to the metal plate on the towbar, then what could it do to thew body work.

If i am in for a service again, i will be giving them strict instructions as to why they can't machine wash my car.

Oh, by the way, it was Mervyn Stewart on the Boucher Road. I assume this is where you where?

And, i had the silver fabia estate for a day. Couldn't wait to get the Octy back.

JD

They machine wash your cars there??? Wow. That sucks big time. The service manager here makes sure the cars are washed by hand properly, with pressure hoses (not high pressure though, thankfully).

It was Mervyn Stewart, got it sorted and have left instructions no more washs at all, i'll do it myself. They managed to buff it out, no swirl marks but it was only over a small area.

O and also managed to get my 20k service for free, but think that was mostly because i'd been messed about a bit as well

Im not that impressed with mervyn stewarts customer service so far. I have been for one service and one warranty repair so far this year. I am waiting on a part to be ordered in (a replacement heater motor). I was told the last time i was there that it would be in within two weeks, and i would recieve a postcard when it had arrived. That was on 16th February, more than 6 weeks and still no word.

Andy,

Have they ever sent out one of these postcards to you??

had a postcard once normally have to chase them up. No not impresssed at all with the last warranty work there i ended up going to Skoda UK as the service manager was being an ****. Once SKoda contacted them things seemed to change, think next service might just be done at the skoda dealer in Bangor
