I've got a Bam inlet manifold and i've got some new plastic surrounds that injectors fit in and attempted to replace them today but couldn't find a socket big enough, tried a 19mm allen key but it wasn't quiet big enough

Just wondered if vw had a special tool or what everybody else use to change them

I used a 19mm allen key but IIRC it was slightly small so I just wrapped a bit of insulation tape around the end to make a tight fit.

There is a special tool available.

I tried to wrapping abit of tape round it but it, but they were that tight it just pulled the tape off

Two of mine shattered when I removed them - brittle with age I guess and really tight.

Thats one reason why i was going to change them, ill try using heat gun in morning to try and release them before i take screwdriver to them and smash them out

what was the end result with this? did you have to smash them out? also part no for the new surrounds and price would be really helpful.

Sorted now i built myself a custom fit socket! Got them out easy with that, still need part numbers for the new ones though
