Injector Noise through Strereo

Featured Replies

Hi,

After many hours of checking my stereo electrics I am still getting a high speed clicking noise through my stereo. It has been located to the fuel injection system but I don't know where to start. I know its on the earth side of the system.

Has anyone had any experience of this noise or issues with injector noise and how was it resolved?

Any Help or ideas would be fantastic.

Dave

Cant help a great deal im afraid but it definitely sounds like an earth issue. Double check the headunit is earthed properly and none of the earth wires in the engine bay are broken.

Get a suppressor for it.

Aftermarket stuff?

All stereo system earths have been checked replaced etc, believe me there are no issue with the stereo (hooked my system to another car with no issues and when connected my car to a known good system the noise appears. Engine earth under battery has been checked along with the battery to chassis (now 0awg). The earth point in the boot is ok and the one behind the centre console too (nothing broken or corroded and nothing added from stock, if there are any more to check please let me know.

The noise is from the injection system and is proportional to revs and stops when the revs drop (not alternator whine either).

There must be some kind shorting going on in/on the engine

Injector wiring harness is a safe bet.

Had a simlar issuse with my first car...fitted chokes / suppresors etc checked everything.....then double checked the earth tab on the stereo cage...BINGO!.......make sure that the stereo cage makes proper contact with the stereo and that the earth to the stereo is ok!... B)

Ipods and the like (walkmans etc) aren't designed to work in a car environment. Well not 100% of the time and not in close proximity to the dash or other vehicle systems. With my walkman, placed on the passenger seat was fine, placed near the dash it picked up interference.

I guess you mean checking the earth from the inout on the iso loom to the body of the radio? I have checked that also with no issues and also checked the earth from the body to the rca outers and from the earth in to the rca outers too.

I also tried another head unit with the same issue (one alpine one pioneer)
