Electrical problem

Featured Replies

I picked up a positive feed (only when engine is running) from under the steering wheel above the pedals, when I wired up for a towbar for the caravan when the car was new in 2000 (110bhp TDi),it switched a relay on to provide power for the fridge, now the problem is it is on terminal 87f and its now lost power so the relay won't now switch on,is it the right one to take relay coil power off ? is the terminal fused ? There are 5 connections underneath and are left to right 75x - 30 - 30 - 30a - 87f and above are relays etc.If it is fused what else would have gone off. :o

:finger: thanks for all the replys, for the info of others - 75x is a ignition controlled feed,30 is a permanent feed, 30a pos feed ?, 87f is a timed positive feed I think for the injectors, comes on with a cold start and goes off about 3 mins after with a relay click. ;)

Don't take the lack of replies personally, things can move pretty fast on this forum and posts can disappear out of view very quickly. Glad you found why the power was going off!

BTW, I've got some stuff wired to the 75x terminal, but thins connected there should have their own inline fuse. Apparently the circuit protecting it is something like 110Amps

:) have come off the terminals with short cables (4") to 2 inline blade fuses tie wrapped to the loom, and then the cables run to the rear of the car following the cars loom, just need to find out which wire goes upto the trailer indicator on the dashboard display to stop that annoying buzzing noise when indicating

Now that *will* be a challenge! Good luck

:) Anybody know which wire to join onto for the trailer indicator or do I have to take the dash apart and trace out the PCB ?

That annoying buzzing is a legal requirement is it not?

It must be there for MOTs etc afaik.

:) It can be either a audio or visual indicator to show that the indicators are working, and the buzzing noise gets to be a pain when you are sat in traffic turning right. :finger: any wires for me to splice into yet ?
