Skoda Fabia green line ll

Featured Replies

I have a new skoda Fabia green line ll and love it. However occasionally when I turn the car off, the fan continues running and this is only after doing a short journey, ie 5 miles. It has only happened a few times but it also smells like burning rubber? Surely the engine should not be hot enough to warrant the fan coming on as it had been left overnight prior to the journey. I mentioned it to the garage and they said it is fine, but just wanted to double check. The coolant is at the right level. I did a 300 mile journey yesterday and it did not stay on then. It has only done it about 5 times and has only done 2500 miles.

Yes, they do that.

I also run a 2011 Fabia Greenline II.

I believe it's something to do with the Diesel Particulate Filter.

Welcome to the forum by the way.

Thank you, does yours smell a bit as well when the fan is on? Maybe it's because it is quite new?

Isn't the fan on because it's been doing an active regen of the DPF and the exhaust system is very hot and the fan stays on to cool it down.

A bit, yes.

But I do mostly longer runs so the DPF usually clears before I stop.

The smell is due to the DPF burning off soot particles, which it needs to be very hot to do. It's normal.

Don't worry about it.

defiantly as already said a regen at the end of a short trip.

I do a lot of 5 mile journeys and get the fan on at the end and sometimes the smell, nothing to worry about.
