Rear DVD Screens from Columbus

Featured Replies

I have searched this forum and others and come to the conclusion that it is possible as the Columbus does support rear DVD screen(s), so forgive me if this has been answered and I have not found it yet.

Has anyone actually done this from their Columbus?

I know that aftermarket DVD players or other options are available but, before committing to any system, I'd like to have as much information as possible so that I can make the right decision for my situation.

Does anyone have any wiring info which specifically mentions outputs for rear screens? I found a very useful post on this form regarding the wiring for ISO connectors for ICE, but no mention of video outputs (or audio to anything other than speakers).

Is it possible to make use of headphones for rear passengers to listen to the entertainment?

I have so many questions regarding this that it probably would be a lot easier to go to Argos!

But that's just too simple for me...

Thanks. And Merry Christmas.

I think to do this would be very costly.

I've played with Columbus video output on my table, not in the car, but there is nothing extraordinary, you just need to convert RGBS signal to composite or VGA using Ambery or similar converter.

All the necessary wiring for RSE is described here.

Cost is just one issue that I want to weigh up before deciding to dive in and buy a set from Argos (for example) or go ahead with doing it myself from the Columbus.

Thanks Josi- straight to the point. I'll take a look at that info properly after Christmas.

So - a year on and I've not done anything about this - apart from think about it occasionally.

Has anyone actually done this and added RSE to the Columbus?

If so, what did you use to convert the signal to a useable format?

I've seen a lot of versions available, but wanted to hear from actual experiences if possible.
