Saab 9-3 Aero Hot

Featured Replies

Been looking at a second car for my Mrs( toy for me too!! )

And came across a couple of these.

Seems a lot of car and power for under three grand on a 52 plate..

What's the catch?

Thoughts please as I'm seriously looking at one in the new year.

Nothing, really. It's age negates the negatives associated with it being a a SAAB (with reference to them being a non-car company)

Be wary of the bulkhead. They crack and split IIRC

the bulk head cracking was highlighted by my mechanic when i was an apprentice at saab uk its not as bad as it sounds in fairness and all the cars affected should have been recalled to have it rewelded

nice cars and fast but the catch is with them going bust you wont get parts for them but with them being GM alot of parts from other cars fit!!!

they do need some front braces to help with the torque steer wich is bad !!!

My mate has just got rid of one of these. Brilliant cars but he had to wait 3 weeks for a new windscreen when his was smashed. He also took it back to a dealer a couple of years ago as a driveshaft snapped. Saab replaced it free as they'd never ever had one back with that problem before! Lol

Looking good so far...

I seem to remember that it was widely regarded as one of the worst-handling cars of its time, due to simply arresting torque steer and a pretty **** chassis & setup.

I like the idea- especially the 9-5 Aero. Incredibly fast in gear, quicker 50-70 than a 911 Turbo or something like that...

DDrove a 210 hp 9-3 in my old work and it felt a heavy unresponsive lardy car. Speed crept up quick though.

I think they suffer from engine sludge.
