Spare Wheel - Best / Cheapest option?

I'd look on the old bay of e and buy an alloy or new wheel and put a tyre on. you can sometimes find a singel new alloy for £10-£20

The best option is to order the kit with the car as much cheaper than from parts department.

The cheapest option a steel wheel and jack from a breakers or the bay of E then fit a new budget tyre.

A space saver will be lighter to carry around. However you could pick up a steel with a well worn 185/60 R14 tyre for next to nothing.

This thread has prompted me to ask if anyone knows if it's OK to fit the OEM steel spare supplied with the car, using the wheelbolts from the alloys? Mine is a roomster but the principle is the same.

In my experience, most breakers have mountains of space saver wheels & tyres which are very cheap 'cos people usually want nearly new tyres for the road not the spare.

Why not try a Volkswagen breaker which are more common, probably a Polo or Golf space saver will be OK.

Helped my nephew buy a Fabia 2 estate last year and the dealer got a space saver from his local breaker as I recommended that a spare was essential.

I wouldn't own a car without a spare wheel, it only takes about 10-15 minutes to change it rather than wait for breakdown guys who would normally only fit a new (expensive) tyre.

Glad ypu're thinking ahead - a flat tyre is quite a reasonable thing to anticipate.

P.S. Good Tip :- keep a reflective jacket in car in case of wheel change emergency.

I believe the bolts are the same (according to the dealers) so yes.
