Clutch identification

Featured Replies

My 1998 1.9 Tdi is due to have it's clutch replaced. Is there any way that I can tell if it is fitted with a dual density fly wheel? The chassis numbers are TMB Z(?)22 1U2W. Haynes says that the AGR engine can be fitted with either.

Following on, if it has, should I replace it with a solid fly wheel and should the slave cylinder be replaced at the same time?

Merry Christmas!

Peter

I've always heard DMF are best for diesel cars but don't know if that is true? When I switched my DMF for a SMF I just bought a kit and didn't really require anything else.

Thanks DPB,

As the fly wheel costs over £100 and I may not need it is there any way of telling which it is fitted with before stripping the car down?

Regards,

Peter
