Hi guys iv got a 05 plate vrs that the gearbox is very noisy on a and have a mate who has a 20vt box ota a a3 who has said i can have, i have a mate whos dad specialises in gearbox rebuild who has said hed sort mine a considerable lot cheaper if i leave it with him on a not rushed basis, can fit and remove boxes myself so will it fit? Or will it be a total waste and top out at 70 lol, could be in for a few months while other gets repaired cheers

5 speed wont be a straight swap

dont go putting a petrol box on at all mate,

youll find that if you use say an 02j EHA (mk1 octy vrs box) gearbox youll top out around 85ish mph at 4k rpm plus the clutches are different iirc. not a straight swap. just get another 6 speed off another 1.9TDi. golf gttdi? not sure 100% tho as I am new to the Fabia.

Look for a 6 speed diesel box

Fabia code is HDS for the newer box
