Boost pipe popped off!

Featured Replies

Morning all I was coming put of a 30 zone and was just about to start accelerating and I heard a pop! Lost power and it started smoking a bit! Checked it over and one the boost pipes had popped off. The clip was fine and it looked like it was at the join. I was able to put it back together and it's still held up but I'm worried it will happen again.

Does anyone know how much replacement boost pipes are? I'll try to get a pic in a bit

Thanks

Charlie

Think some of them are quite expensive. I think I have a complete collection down my garage but are all used except from the £90 90 degree bend one which is brand new.

Which boost pipe popped?

It will happen again.

Cool cheers mate. I'll send you a pic of the one I need. I've got your ash tray light all done now :-)

The one just behind the headlight. It's one of the 90 degree ones

One of these is the one behind the headlight and the other goes into the egr. (Can't remember which one is which)

Cost £55.93 for the 2 from TPS.

I'm pretty sure I have the smaller of the two and it was £90 from tps two weeks ago

You probably had the bottom pipe that goes into the intercooler.

My 2 are for the top pipes.

One popped at 21k on my 2004vRS - I put a doubled hoseclip around it to hold the clip together (after the dealer refused to do anything under warranty) and it was fine for the next 40k till I sold the car...

I was £110 for this pipe. It's the one coming off the turbo. Needed replaced cause it was slightly burst lol

I will go find the part number and exact price tonight.

Is the pipe damaged or has it just popped off - there are loads of fixes on here on how to secure it after it has come loose - happened to me and I used 2 hose clamps and 4 metal cable ties and ran it for over 20000 miles at 186bhp with no problem

many recomend using 4 self tappers to secure it.

don't but a new hose if you don't need it - search this forum for more info

good luck

Cable ties solved it for me. Obvs wont solve the issue if the pipe has split lol. i have spare OEM intercooler pipes (upgraded to FMIC) if u need any pm me
