Warped discs?

Featured Replies

Afternoon folks,

I have a bit of a quandry and thought I'd ask here for your experiance as I've not had a chance to get the wheels off the car and actually check yet.

I recently fitted a new set of OEM discs and pads from TPS about 2000-3000 miles ago and i've recently started getting a vibration through the steering wheel when braking from some speeds, this doesnt happen all the time which is the weird thing. It can be a high speed or a low speed.

There's no judder from the brake pedal [which is a symptom of warped discs i've experianced in the past], and when i'm coming up to junctions the car slows as if I was leaning on and off the brakes slightly, resistance, less resistance, resistance etc...

Now i know my console bushes are clunking quite badly and i've ordered some Cupra ones to replace them yesterday, but was wondering would this be attributed to them?

Any help in diagniosing this is much appreciated.

Warped discs would vibrate every time you brake. My mother in law's Focus has a warped disc and it shakes the steering wheel violently every time you brake slow or fast.

I would say it's your bushes if you know they're on the way out anyway. Does your car bang/clunk under a sudden stop or pulling of quick?

Could this not be uneven brake pad wear??

Oh god yea... its been polybushed in the past with the 4 pronged power flex ones but i'm mossing one on the passenger side which has clunked for a while and now the drivers side has started also, about the same time when they vibration in the steering wheels has appeared, this is why I thought they may be related.

This occoured to me too, but I've not had a chance to take a look at them yet to assess.

I used plenty of copper grease when I was fitting these so cant see the pads being stuck in the carriers but stranger things have happened.
