Not sure what to do

Featured Replies

Right, looking at some possibilities in the new year with regards to my car.

I have a couple of options;-

1) Get rid of the Polo variant and replace it with a Fabia Estate (either a 2.0 or a PD100)

2) Fully repair the Polo Variant and do some tweaking to it to give it some more grunt (needs a new front bumper headlights etc)

Just wondered what people`s opinions were as to what to do as I really dont know what would be best!!!

Been looking at Golf Estates as well (Mk 3 and Mk 4) but I`d like to get something thats a bit different to the cars you see tuned up around my way. And as I have a Polo Saloon as well, i already have something thats quite unusual.

If you want a new car, buy one. If not keep the polo? Lol Not really something we can answer tbh

Get a new one, you cant the fun of buying new cars.

Having gone Fabia -> Polo (6n2) in the past, I can say the Fabia is the quieter, comfier, more spacious car.

That said, I prefer the Polo to the Fabia.

I currently have a Golf mk 4, a 'sporty' one. Get the Fabia, much preferable IMO.

hum, only issue I have is I can only seem to find 1.4 16V or 2.0 petrols or the SDi diesel so wondering if the 1.4 is worth having over my 1.6 100 Polo.

Made a good noise did my 1.4 16v estate. emoticon-0103-cool.gif Well, for the type of car anyway.

Depends where your priorities lie I guess - comfort/refinement or performance/economy. If the former, I'd say the Fabia. Couldn't comment on the Polos performance though, but my Fabias MPG is here. The 2.0 is only 15bhp more, and I believe a lot less economical. Guessing you know the performance of the SDi already.

Yeah the SDi is a bit slow, been looking at TDi's instead. I have found a few PD100s and some of the 1.4 PD80s. Was thinking the 1.4 would be a good blend between comfort and performance. I'm just not sure what the difference with all the specs are.

I've seen a Comfort, Classic, Bohemia and Elegance so I know the Elegance is top spec with all the toys but what are the others?

Stolen from another site:

Standard Classic models feature air conditioning, front airbags, three rear three-point seat belts, ABS, power steering, height and reach adjustable steering wheel, height adjustable driver’s seat, immobiliser, body-coloured bumpers and a radio/ single CD player with four speakers (although the 1.2 HTP 54bhp has a cassette radio). Ambiente trim adds a trip computer, electrically adjustable and heated body-coloured door mirrors, sound system with eight speakers, deadlocks, adjustable dashboard illumination, front fog lights, front reading light, seat-mounted storage pockets, electric front windows and remote central locking. Elegance specification also includes EDL and ASR electronic chassis systems, cruise control, heated front seats, rear acoustic parking sensors, alloy wheels, an alarm and a leather steering wheel, gearknob and gaiter. Sport models have the following in addition to Classic specification: 15-inch alloy wheels, rear spoiler, sports seats, leather sports steering wheel, gearknob and gaiter, chrome exhaust, CD autochanger, front fog lights, remote central locking and electric windows. The performance vRS model features EDL, ASR and MSR electronic chassis systems, lowered suspension, chrome exhaust, 16-inch alloy wheels, six-speed manual transmission, chrome gearknob and door locks, vRS pedal cluster, sports seats with vRS upholstery and sports badging.

Cars all look the same basically, its the alterations on the outside appearance that get most noticed, whether car is moving or stationary.

Customise body-work on any preferred chosen model/make by doing some serious alterations.

I don't mean bolt-on stuff like shiny wheels alone, most enthusiasts do that anyway, and car is still very recognisable.

Good luck with the venture, Ross Chapman.emoticon-0148-yes.gif

Classic gets you a car, and 4 wheels.

Comfort (later became Ambienate) and adds electric mirrors, windows, C/L (remote was an option on earlier cars) and AC (again, option on earlier cars).

Elegance has heated seats, cruise control (I think) and maybe parking sensors. Early ones had rear electric windows too.

There's gonna be a bit more too it than that, but that's a rough outline.

So I take it the Bohemia is a special edition?

Seen only one Elegance with the (IMHO) nicer two tone black and tan interior so I take it that it wasn't a popular option same as the Mk 2, shame really as i'd like that the most I think.
