Whats the difference between 1.8t and VRS

Featured Replies

Just wondered what the main engine differences between the above are to get the 30bhp. I read somewhere there is a large boost pressure difference, is this from a large turbo or is it all down to different ECU?

pretty sure it's just the mapping - my brother's (face-lift) 150hp 1.8T Elegance had the same K03s turbo as the vRS

Early 1.8t's had a different turbo and mapping, but on the newer ones, it's mainly down to the ampping.

Just mapped differently from the factory.

Its so they could sell it as a special edition model like the GTI's, cupra's and S3's

So if you get the 1.8t you get a more powerful car (in essence) than the vRS when mapping because you get a bigger power gain from standard. Just a shame its not the same style or quality inside.

also as rk696 said the turbo was the k03 in the 1.8 and a k03s in the vRS

K03 was pre-facelift, just happens that there was no vRS until the facelift

All Octavia 1U 4x4 1.8T's are ARX engines with the K03S. A decent map should see a solid 200+bhp.
