Temp and fuel needle illumination problem

Featured Replies

Hi...

I have problem from a topic title. I replaced green illumination to red and blue but after approximately 45 minutes off driveing needle illumination of temp and fuel starting to get a temporary turn on and off (blue backlight runs fine, needle illumination of tachometer and speedometer runs fine too, just those two needles have problem with illumination), in those first 45 minutes everything is working properly. Does anyone know what could be a problem?

Thanks for helping me! :)

This might sound odd, do they have their own bulb for illumination for each needle?

What model of car is this on, although that should make no difference.

Each of those two needles have 2 SMD LED (4 LED's connected in series), so if one doesn't work rest will not work too (there's no closed circuit)! Skoda Octavia MK1 2004 1.9TDI... Sorry for my bad English! :)

Does anyone have cluster schematics? :)

Dry solder joint or cracked circuit board track sounds most likely.

Less likely but check also any vias that may have been disturbed during soldering (a via is a through track connection from one side of the board to the other or connection from a surface layer to a middle layer in a multi-layer board).
