Okay, plenty of talk about fitting the superb/w8 interior light to get the cat-vision, but has anybody actually tried fitting the rear view mirror from a touareg yet? If you have the auto-dim function built in, I get the impression that the LED downlights are built into the underside on that model and all the rumours say that it's literally a straight swap with no extra nonsense...

...but no-one's come on here to say they've done it or even that it works.

So is it all a myth or can you do this mod if you have the auto dim on your octy??

Actually, just been out to the motor to get some stuff out and on the undersida of my rear view mirror, either side of the autodim button is a circular casting/cutting mark in exactly the same area as the Touareg ones, so that lends weight to the distinct possibility that the casings are identical between the models in usual VW group style.

Yeah, I read it, but no-one's actually come out and said they'd done it, hence me starting this thread.

Have you done it after all? I will be doing it within the next month or so hopefully. Could do with some heads up advice I suppose

I have just purchased 2 x12v leds to do this . Having trouble getting the mirror off

 

Nah, just changed my sunroof/light switch for a Mk1 Superb as it was easier to find one. Was never gonna drill my mirror to fit LEDs and couldn't find a Touareg one at that time, at least not for less than silly money. My cat lights work fine in the SUperb unit though.

Just gonna bump this up with a positive on installing the Touareg mirror. 

 

 

Looks awesome . I remember there was a mod of the interior light in golf mk4 ( same as octo mk2 ) where you fitted a Touareg light and it had the two small red leds built in .. great mod !
