VRS to SCOUT

Featured Replies

Well finally decided to change my VRS to a Scout

just deciding whether to order or try and find one with the spec and colour I want.................

dont want a DSG again just a manual diesel with xenons.

need to see the safari colour in the flesh before I get that colour or if not a grey one.

I'm fairly certain that I'll be doing the same when the time comes so I'll be watching with interest

+1 Thinking along the same lines. Been very impressed with the Scout at work and am getting a bit tired of the tyre-wear issue affecting the vRS. And the state of the roads up here means they're not well suited to 18" rims.

Sarge.

Surely a set of 16s - 17s and good alignment would be far cheaper?

Tyre wear (and cost of replacements) reduced plus better ride quality.

just moved up to the highlands from west yorkshire where the paramedic responders at work there use and abuse the scouts and talking to them they were full of praise for them. bought one new bought winter tyres and wheels for the cold winters and its 8 deg on christmas day! whats the point of being up here with no snow.to date it seems fine nothing gone wrong tyre noise may be a little intrusive but that all. just bring some snow please

Just wait till the snow drops there sandal, you will eat the word you typed lol. the snow that can fall and lie in grantown will and can stop cars for better in the snow than a scout. ps welcome to the heelands ma loon.

just think ime getiing old, having lowered suspension and 18,s I find the ride hard,,,,,ive had subaru,s and a r32 golf but at nearly 50 year old /i feel ime getting old, went shopping to meadowhall the other day we went into a shop and I was looking for the bloody stereo to turn it down............ime growing into mi dad :o

I moved from my modified vRS (via an accent Civic) to a Scout DSG and love it to bits! I do miss the oomph of my vRS (the Scout only has half the horse power!), but it is an absolute hoot from a grip point of view. I'd have loved to have kept the vRS, but that wasn't going to be the case, so when the opportunity to buy a Scout came about I wasn't going to say no.

Since then it has proved to be one of the most practical cars i've ever owned! It lugs all the tackle of family and work life about and gives over 50mpg.

One of my family works for YAS and has experience of the Ambulance responder Scouts, and it was some of their reassurance that made me feel very confident in it's ability. After all if they can survive the sort of life they have in such a professional work situation, then anything I chuck at it should be no problem at all!

Unless you order an factory fresh model and are happy to wait a while, spec will depend on what's available, but if our Scout owners register is anything to go by, then many come with options specified. Having previously had 150PD engines, the 140CR has taken a bit of getting my head round, but now loosened up and figured out, its a fab unit!

Those of you that are thinking of the change, it does make for an interesting vehicle, and an unusual one!

I was thinking of this switch as well, but keeping the dsg. Only trouble is my company lease scheme doesn't list that model as an option so will wait...
