Hmmm, jumbo box ipod?

After reading the following article on how to retro fit a jumbo box with the 3.5mm jack socket,...

...I noticed that the input isn't hard-wired into the back of the stereo (in my case an audience).

Does anyone know enough about how ipod connections work to tell me if you can somehow get more use-ability from this somehow to wire in a different set-up OTHER than simply plugging it in via the headphone socket? It'd be sweet to actually be able to control the ipod from the stereo, but I can't see it.

Hoping someone can prove me wrong...

Cannot be done via the auxillary input.

Yeah, there isn't an auxillary input on the back of the Audience, so I presume you mean it can't be done by rewiring the jumbo box input, yes?

thats correct, it is effectively a stereo input connection and cannot display tracks etc on screen or control ipod via this point
