36mm hub nut

Featured Replies

I'm changing both boots today (new nuts too).

What is the torque setting when tightening these bad boys back up?

Thanks.

I have never done it myself, but looking at the Haynes manual, it is:

12-point Hub Nut

50 Nm (37 lbft) then tighten a further 45°

Haynes does recommend that a new bolt/nut is used each time. I don't know if that is because it has thread lock on it, or due to the bolt stretching.

They have little locking tabs on the back that normally break off.

Yep. Looks like one of my old ones had been recycled.

Any tips for gettin the cv joint apart? Both shafts are out, boot off, I'm giving the cage of the joint a tap but it's not breakin free!

Hit it like you mean it.

Ah man I'm whacking it and it's going no where!

I'm aiming for the collar where the joint meets the shaft right? So once separated there's nothing left on the end of the shaft?
