Hi, for about 3 months the oil light has been flashing with a beeping noise. I've read all the other posts. Plenty of oil in the tank but brown sludge around the cap. A week ago I had an oil change which hasn't helped.

Basically I'm hoping for a quick reply as I'm taking the car into the garage in an hour and they quoted £1000 repair for something like low oil pressure in the engine.

Any opinions much appreciated.

Low oil pressure could just be the pickup pipe in the sump needing cleaning. Simple to do, not simple to get to, as I understand it. Shouldn't be anywhere near a grand though IMO.
