Supaguard ???

Featured Replies

Picked my new black Furby Vrs up last sunday,it has had the paintwork treated with Supaguard, has anyone any comments regarding this treatment, the dealer told me that there is no need to wax the car,but being a bit of a polishing buff I am wondering if I have done the right thing.

Can waxes be applied over this tretment?I have previousley used Zymol and Meguiars products.

i had the silverseal treatment which is supposed to be the same. they told me do not wax it! Tom.

I had this applied to my black Punto when it was new. It went in to the bodyshop about 4 weeks after and when they had done the work they polished/buffed it. It left it shiny yeah but it looked all smeared aswell :S- not nice. I just stuck to washing it after that.

I polish it now but the Supagard's been on it nearly three years........

You should have got a free 'sampler' pack consisting of a two small bottles, one of green shampoo and one of yellow 'paint sealant cream.'

You're meant to use the yellow stuff if the shine starts to fade or water stops beading on the paintwork, just as you would a regular polish or wax.

I've had Supagard on my car for over a year and haven't had to use the yellow stuff yet.

he also said if it has to go into the body shop iv'e got to tell them because it has to be treated differently. then the coating has to be re-applied. Tom.

Looks like an end to my waxing days then....

Cobblers.

Both my previous Octy and current Superb had the Amazing Glaze treatment by the dealer (the same stuff as all the others but with a different name), and both looked heaps better with a decent wax.

Dont forget wax isnt abrasive whereas polish is.

Forget waxing...I wouldnt.

So I can wax over the Supaguard?now i am confused,is any wax or polish ok as long as it is not abrasive i.e. Meguiars nxt wax(easiest stuff to apply that I have ever tried)?

So we need to know what wax to use.

I pick up me new car on friday that will be treated, so need to know what wax and shampoo to use.

You can use whatever wax you like. Wax isnt abrasive, polish is. However the better quality the wax the better it should be and the better results it should give.

Personally I use Swissol, and wouldnt swap to anything else.

Now that has presented me with a dilemna,do I order some supaguard paintseal cream to keep the bodywork gleaming,or do I just keep applying a coat of lovely, sweet smelling Zymol?
