Fitting Pionneer GPS/Stereo to '08 Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi guys, was looking to upgrade the bog standard stereo in my 08 Fabia to include GPS, found this one: http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/archive/AVIC-F9110BT/index.html

The specs say it supports Fabia 2009 onwards, but I was unaware of any differences with the stereo mounting compared to the 08 model. Anyone fitted one of these or something similar? Or know why they put this? It also says "* special CAN accessory needed". Any ideas?

Many Thanks!

I am sure it will fit OK as for the special CAN accessory I think you need this if you have steering wheel controls, other wise don't need it

Have one in our 2012 Fabia and it was plug and play.

It is designed for the later canbus models 2009on so not sure if you would have any issues with fitting to an 08.

I know on VW's this can cause battery drain issues.

Cheers

so for an 09 on you dont need the canbus adapter to get the steering wheel controls working? Quite intrested in fitting one of these as there are some very good deals about!

that looks like a nice bit of kit! ive been contemplating a new stereo addon, is there loads of different options? ive seen you can get the 'official' skoda one, but the price has put me off massively. this on the other hand looks like a tidy option! is there any documentation on how to go about fitting it?

cheers.

You take the old stereo out by pulling off a piece of trim and unscrewing four torx screws, run in the microphone for the bluetooth, run in the cale for the GPS aerial. Plug in the connections to the Pioneer satnav, screw in the four torx srexs, refit the trim, job done.

For the Microphone and GPS aerial I just ran the cables through to the drivers side and mounted the microphone at the top of the window trim and mounted the GPS aerial on top of the dash drivers side.

Sound quality is clearer and meatier than the Swing head unit and ipod control is easy, even video quality is great.

The Kenwood unit sold by Skoda only has a USB socket on the front meaning your HDD or ipod has to be on show. With the Pioneer unit you can run the rear USB lead into your glove box and leave your ipod out of site.

After a long faff with getting it delivered (home delivery network - STAY AWAY!) I will be fitting tomorrow, will update on how it goes if anyone else is interested in splashing out. Car Audio Centre say they see no issues with fitting to an 08 model, the connectors are the same.
