Recommended shampoo

Featured Replies

Am I right in thinking the standard Halfords stuff is pretty good (sure I read about it on here, but can't find the thread now :()

I don't always have time to wax the car afterwards - how much effect will the Halfords/any other recommended product have on the existing wax coat when I wash the car with it?

Thanks,

Steve

Timotei is good. Tres emme is also good (but just for professionals)

Very good mate, very good. Some would say you treat her too well :D

IMHO...get a decent wax, and make time every 3-4 months to give it a good wash and apply the wax...then every intermediate wash, so long as you're not using something like Fairy Liquid, it won't matter that you're not waxing it.

I've yet to hear of a "specially designed" car shampoo which removes decent wax!

Thanks Rob. I easily wax it within that amount of time. What do you use for car shampoo?

My question was really getting at how much the shampoo breaks down the wax coat when washing...

What do you use for car shampoo?

I use some cheap Carplan Triplewax type stuff which had "100% extra free" sometime last year.

I don't bother with waxing, as one car's plastic and the other I'm not too precious about... :D That said, they both shine up nice using just the Carplan shampoo, so I'd be very surprised if it is stripping off the wax...

I use the Autoglym shampoo, as recommended to me by Mark Wax Wizard.
