Turbo Dynamics md446

Featured Replies

Is anyone on here running one? Can only seem to bring up posts from around 2006 but no decent write or feedback on it.

It's their stage 2 pd130 hybrid (gt20 comp wheel)

If you do have one, how does it perform? What's the power delivery like? Have you run it on stage 1 for a while, if so was it über laggy?

Reason I'm asking is because my kkk has died an I'm having this fitted on Tuesday, jut wondering if anyone's had any experience of it!

I'm going I in it on stage 1 for a couple of months I have a forge FMIC just not the clutch to support a full fat map yet.

Cheers :)

What advantage does this provide over the 150?

Smaller turbo housing so quicker spool, I believe. I've got one on mine, although it was bought by the previous owner and mapped before I bought the car so I don't know how it would run on a stage 1 map. I'll try and find a pic of my Shark dyno plot later.

Bear in mind that you don't have to go for massive peak figures with a hybrid map, it should still give you an improvement in the power band due to "not running out of puff" near the redline. The hybrid on my Fabia with correct mapping feels like it's still pulling at the redline, where a standard turbo like the PD150 on my old Leon has already started to die off.

when it was just mapped, my Ibiza didn't particularly feel like it was dying off, when it had a hybrid turbo it was stronger mid/top (obviously) but it now feels like it's running out of fuel top end

Respect for the umloat :)

From what I've read it won't be undrivable but any spool/lag issues are reduced a bit when it's mapped appropriately.

When mapping, get it torque limited or be prepared for a big bill to upgrade the clutch.

You'll need a FMIC or other sort of cooling ASAP as inlet temps (even in the cold weather) will easily hit 90 to 100 degrees Celsius.

I have an MD374 with a slightly smaller GT17 compressor. Undriveable under 1,500rpm, ok between 1,500 and 2,000 and then really flies all the way up to the redline. Compared to a remapped PD130 which was extremely tractable from very low revs.

Bottom paragraph says I have a forge fmic fitted mate :) yeah I've heard they change the drive a lot, more like a petrol needing far more revs, more so in my case too I guess with a larger compressor wheel.

What state of tune is your car at re the comments on driveability?

Thanks for the feedback

haha, ta :)

I was going to hold off on doing a ta limited map as I'll end up paying to map again for the new clutch later in the year. So I'll stick with my stage 1 for a while and put up with the lag, gonna have to learn how to drive it all over I think.

Awesomes new SMF and upgraded clutch seem a good deal, if not too cheap (£670) which makes me wonder what abuse it will take, need to see if anyone's running one yet.

oops! Didn't read the post properly!

I'm going to do some vcds logging when turbos on see how the forge seat sport style keeps the intake temps down to.

That will be useful....I'm looking to see what the best FMIC is

That would be very useful, could compare to my seat sport one to see if its worth upgrading!

Good point matt! That's the ultimate comparison really as they're very very similar externally from looking sob their effectiveness would be interesting

i got a stage 3 clutch that will be more than enough

450 + postage

rated to 455ftlb

Don't have the money at the moment to be honest mate, I wasn't planning a hybrid so soon so a 1400 bill just after Christmas is enough at the moment lol

Neither did I, hence the hasty edit. :)

Had it fitted today today, it's mental!! Blew a forge boost pipe off on test drive but my god does it pull, even on the stage 1 map it goes like mad! Averaged 16mpg over 20 miles lol, roll on stage 3 :)

Lol.

Did you get your cable? Still need to send you that mail.

Are you getting it remapped soon?

Yeah can't decide if I push this clutch to the limit while saving for updated one or just stick with stage 1 for now, she's going back on the rollers on the 21st to see what it's putting out at the moment.

It's really driveable though not overly laggy and pulls so much better to redline now. I was expecting lag to be terrible not being mapped for it.
