windscreen washer bottle leaking

Featured Replies

Hi all

just refilled my new greenline estate with water for the second time as the washers were empty which I thought was odd as I haven't used them much so checked under the car today to find the washer fluid dripping from the underside of the plastic engine covers

anyone else had a leak from the bottle ?

I suppose it could be a washer tube poor connection or where the pump connects to the bottle , though the washers do work - albeit with a slight lag suggesting the pipe may be emptying ?

any ideas on getting access to the bottle - from the wheel arch , under neath after removing covers or front bumper off ?

Gain access to bottle under wheel arch, remove plastic inner wing.

I had a faulty headlamp washer unit, this can be seen under bonnet, unfortunately a leak from any of the units is confused because of the under engine panels, they only allow water out through a few holes, because of where I parked a leak from the nearside headlamp washer seemed to be from the offside.

You will have no problem with replacement under warranty, my headlamp unit took less than 10 min.

The pump is a push on unit I think may need just a bit of a push, but take it in warranty will sort it , don't get your hands dirty emoticon-0140-rofl.gif

Hi Sebonil21

this is exactly what I am hoping for that the pump in the rubber bush has not been seated properly

After my experience of a skoda dealers workshop recently I would rather do it myself

then at least I know its been done properly that all trim & fixings have been put back as it should & everything works as it did before

Thanks also to Spectrum for the info regarding wheel arch access to bottle

Update

jacked up front drivers side & took off wheel & removed screws from front half of wheel arch

easy access to washer pump from here

leak due to a missing tiny O ring from one of the pipe fittings where the washer pipe work clips to pump there are two of these pipe fittings one for the front windscreen the other the rear

one of the fittings had the O ring the other didn't

I think this should have been picked up at the PDI as the washer bottle would have been empty & when filled it they should have noticed water dripping from underneath!
