Tyre shops what people recommend

Featured Replies

hi all

after bit of local knowledge for the best tyre shops in darlo , stockton , boro area

i have brought them off line before and it took me ages to find a garage to fit and take old ones for free so i thought id try this option

i dont want top of range but dont want cheap poo aswell can anyone help

cheers rob

I've used M&M Tyres in the past. They are 'over the border' in Middlesbrough, near the Railway station and the new police Station. I think they are the main stockiest for Vredestein Tyres. They were cheapest for the Goodyear tyres when I used them a few years ago.

C&S Tyres are quite cheap. I've not used them but I've been told Derek Cambells in Stockton are very good.

Nowadays, I buy tyres off the internet and get a local Fitter to fit them.

what garage do you use i tryed local garages around darlo but they charge you to take old tyres but id rather get them off internet

I used a back street gauge in Guisborough, as I know the lad who does it and it's just around the corner for me. I'm not sure how cheap he is, but I got 2 tyres changed and balanced for £25 Cash (used to charge £20 a pair).

I'd imagine Guisborough is a bit too far for you, so I'd ring up the above suggested garages and get quotes for tyres and/or fitting costs. When I want tyres I still ring around to see if the internet quotes (plus fitting) are still cheaper than garage quotes. The other reason why I also bought online last year was not many places sold the Uniroyals and the winter tyres I wanted.

As said above, a lot of people I've spoken to have used Cambells to buy tyres from. They can even fill them with (pure) Nitrogen for you too.

I used Darlington Tyre & Autocare just up from the Civic Theatre for my Toyos last year. They were cheaper than camskill at the time including fitting, but had only just opened so prices might have gone up - worth a call though and in the town centre so you can go for a wander while they fit them.

Then for my winters I used Palmers Tyres in Albert Hill, was £10 a corner fitting.

havent personally used them but a few of my friends have and highly recommend c&s tyres , apparently very good and careful with alloys.

Another vote for C&S. Top guys. You get a lot of bikers going there because they take such good care of wheels.

I have had Bike Wheels marked at C and S in the past, other times they have been ok. Derek Campbell's in Stockton fitted new tyres all round to my Focus Sport (Michelins). I never went out of town prior to setting off for Provence the next week. You've guessed it !! at 70 plus front wheels out of balance. Had to have them balanced properly in France. Now I go to A.M.R. (Automoto Racing) at Bellerby near Leyburn for my Bike Tyres. Never seen anyone take so much care and the shop is like an operating theatre. They also do Car tyres.
