Apologies to whoever owns this Octavia WRC as I found it on Google images, but I quite like the look of the quad spots on the front....

I have been looking into ways of improving the lights for the winter months and had very little luck. I don’t want to go down the route of custom light pods or HID's, so this might be a possibility..... I already have four 9" Hella Rallye 3000 (2) driving & (2) spot lamps, so if nothing else it would be cheaper...

Your thoughts please folks, good or bad.

Cheers,

Steve :)

I like, but then I'm a massive mk1 & mk2 escort fan :giggle:

The bonus of fitting these on brackets is that they can be removed at will without leaving my marks on paintwork like a lamp pod would do I assume.

I love mk1&2 escorts too, so this is just right for me too.

I'd have to fabricate a pair for brackets, but it would be done with a view of being able to disassemble it quickly and without any marks for the summer months. ;)

Steve

Nice when you make the bracket do some extra ones ;-)

Yes, once they're designed it would be easy enough to replicate the pattern.

On a serious note, if you've already got the lights and are making the brackets theres nothing to lose. If you don't like it then you've not really lost anything

V8 turbo mk2 van :o :o :o :o FFS!!!!! I love it!!!

If you intend to put them on a wrc then i would say yeah go for it but i think they would look abit daft on a normal vrs, maybe just the upper light bracket might look okay,

altho i do know what you mean about the headlights as they are rubbish

Yes, H4 & H3 bulbs are all uprated (90w/160w & 100w respectively) but still very poor overall IMHO, especially as where I now live the nearest street light is about 10 miles away!!!!

I'm all for something different, I get what you're saying though about not being a WRC. :)

Steve :)

I actually like them. They look good on a WRC car or replica, but not sure about your silver one Steve.

I had 4 cibie Oscar's on both of my old Mexico MK1 Escorts and both MK 2 Mexico and RS2000. Sure Si-340t remembers these as he is old School. They did light up the road very well with 100watts in each.

I was going to fit them on my Series 1 Escort Turbo years back but decided against it. Still have them in my shed somewhere.

I'm only 34

Or did you mean car wise :giggle:

I had 4 cibies on my old mk3 xr3i was pretty cool bk In the day.

Always been into old school stuff (currently on the lookout for a cav turbo) but my ultimate would be a cossie powered mk1 escort.............one day when my numbers come out on the lotto

Car wise obviouly :giggle:

I am 44 so a few years on you....

I had a Escort with Zakspeed arches and 2.1 burton tuned engine. loved it.

I had a Cav GSI 4x4 and 4x4 Turbo. Great cars but needed a lot of tlc.

I had a Pug 309 Goodwood GTI that I put a 405 Mi16v engine in went pretty quick...

to name a few of the 50 odd cars I have owned

The look great on a MKI or MKII Escort (or indeed many period rally cars) but that is where they should stay IMO.

I also doubt very much that you would not be able to fit the brackets and remove them later without any holes remaining on show, the bumpers also would not be strong enough to support a pair of large spotlights, ideally you need to bolt them to the reinforcing bar behind the bumper skin.

Mmmm zakspeed! Like this http://item.mobileweb.ebay.co.uk/viewitem?itemId=370553111301&index=21&nav=SEARCH&nid=19617464996 please don't look at the price

Had many cav gsi's 2wd, 4x4 and a 4x4 with a 2.5 red top in it. Always said I'd have a turbo 4x4 so that's my next mission B)

Also done the 309's and loved them so underated. Actually got my eye on one at the min with the mi16 on bike carbs.

Depending on how much compo's coming my way from an accident I had, I've been looking at sapphire cosworths aswell.

How about this for a MK1 Zakspeed rep rebound and some lovely vid links on the sound of that V8.

they look like fenders side on

How about Safari wing mirrors ?

Lights

Mounted on door mirrors are extra high-energy discharge lights. These are kept on at all times and are much brighter than ordinary headlights. Their purpose is to make car more visible to others even when travelling in dust cloud.
